Frostbite to Fitness Challenge
28 days. 44 challenges. 6 raffle prizes. And mega bragging rights. This is the hottest HB competition of the year.
This was the most aggressive competition of the year, and it wasn’t even a sanctioned race. For 28 days in February, the team worked through a list of challenges put together by the HB women’s team. The challenges were designed to finish base season strong, while also encouraging good bike citizenry and team camaraderie.
Each challenge was awarded a point value, and every 10 points earned a raffle entry. Prizes were Skratch hydration mix, Formula 369 carbs, Edge & Spoke water bottles, and a fairly serious amount of Pop-Tarts and Nerds Gummy Clusters.
The challenges ranged from helping a stranger fix a flat, to riding with teammates, to riding 10,000 ft of elevation in one ride. Many miles were ridden and many laughs were shared (after we forgot about the suffering of a 5h indoor group century on Zwift — don’t worry, voice chatting on Discord made this fly by).
Three riders took this all the way to the end
The top of the leaderboard was too close to call even in the last week.
He looked for a loophole in every challenge, and found a few. The indoor century he rode was almost entirely coasting downhill.
Won in the true spirit of the challenges. Planned an entire Strava art of a dog.
Stubborn about it in the best way, and willing to do things well outside her comfort zone, including Zwift and a dirt ride.
Two submissions that stood out
Raffle Prize Winners
Thank you to the HB Women’s Team for presenting this challenge. We’ll see you again next February!
